Frequently
Asked Questions
My child has
been assessed previously. He/she was determined to have a
problem, we followed the treatment plan, and he/she continues to
struggle. What can I do to help him/her?
All assessment
techniques are not the same. For instance, children are often
diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder using behavioral
checklists. These are instruments which are typically completed
by parents, teachers, or both. Although checklists indicate the
type and frequency of behavior, they do not explain the cause of
behavior or what to do to address it. On the other hand,
neuropsychological testing may explain exactly what the child
can and cannot do. It also indicates whether there is a problem,
what it is, and what can be done to help the child. If your
child is still struggling, you may wish to seek a second opinion
by exploring neuropsychological testing.
