Frequently
Asked Questions
Will I have to
take medication?
Once an
assessment is completed, your clinical psychologist presents how
he or she feels the problem should be treated with information
about the potential benefits and risks of each option offered.
At times, a medication evaluation is recommended, but medication
is rarely the only recommendation. For many problems, a
combination of medication and talk therapy has quicker and
longer lasting results. For some conditions medication may be an
essential part of treatment while for many problems it is not
indicated.
As a part of
good self-care, we recommend that you have an ongoing preventive
care relationship with a primary care physician with whom you
can discuss the problems you are having so that the role your
physical health has in your problem can be evaluated.
