Frequently
Asked Questions
How will I
know when I've been in treatment long enough?
Usually a
person enters therapy with some specific goals in mind. If the
goals are not specific enough, one of the first things you will
do with your therapist is to clarify your goals along with
participating in a review of your history which is relevant to
your goals. You will then arrive at a treatment plan. As
treatment progresses, you and your therapist will discuss
whether your goals are being met, and continue or adjust the
plan. When your goals are met to your satisfaction, you can
decide to discontinue treatment.
Sometimes new
goals arise during the course of therapy, and you can discuss
whether you want to work on those goals with your therapist
immediately or address them at a later time.
