Frequently
Asked Questions
Do I have to
follow my clinician's recommendations in order to stay in
therapy?
No. You have a
right to decide for yourself which recommendations you might
take and which you do not wish to act on. It is important to
discuss this with your therapist to be sure that your therapist
is able to provide the kind of services you are willing to
accept and is able to collaborate with you if you do not accept
a recommendation. At times, it may be better to obtain your
therapist's assistance in switching to a different therapist. At
Hoover and Associates we always encourage you to obtain a second
opinion if you wish, and to discuss all concerns about your
therapy with us. It is our goal to assist you in meeting your
goals even when it means switching to another therapist inside
or outside of our practice.
