Learning
disabilities:
Learning
disabilities can take many forms. The most common are those that
affect reading, spelling/writing, or mathematics. Problems with
learning may occur while a person is still a child or as an adult.
The sooner the problem is identified, the sooner the individual
affected can receive the help that he/she needs. If a problem with
learning is suspected, neuropsychological testing may determine if
there is a problem, what it is, and how best to treat it.
Neuropsychological testing "goes beyond" traditional
psychoeducational testing in that it measures functions of the
brain that are required for learning. These functions include
attention, memory, language, decision making and planning, in
addition to aspects of intelligence and the person's learning
achievement levels.
